We are continuing our Best of Thingiverse series, and if we’re honest it’s really just the things that we’ve gotten to print from Thingiverse. If there are good ones out there we haven’t found yet let us know and we’ll get on it!
Entry #2 is this wonderful Mausoleum.
Original: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1875150
Remix with textures: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2771090
This model and the remix model are both wonderful, make sure to tip them both when you go to download it.
My only issue with this particular building is that the sealer I used on it has a little bit of a frosty finish and I feel like it destroyed the transition on the blue roof. I was so proud of it too. The finished product still looks great and I’m happy with it, but I will be glad when I’m done with this sealer and can move onto just using the stuff through my airbrush instead of this rattle can.
I really wanted to show off what you can accomplish with cheap craft paint. Every paint I used on this comes from one of those $.89 craft store paint bottles. Even the weathering marks are watered down paint with a little rinse aid to help it flow. I’ll make sure to take pictures before I seal the next model.
For the next 3D printing adventure, maybe I’ll look at sharing some of my ‘fixed’ prints. I’ve had a few partial prints which I’ve blended with my scratch building in order to make sure that they don’t go to waste. Keep your eyes open for when they get posted.
