As a child, Merlin lived in a town where there was a stone with a sword stuck in it. Many people try to pull the sword from the Stone. Until one day an old man standing near the stone cast a spell on it allowing the sword to be pulled from the stone. Merlin befriended the man and stayed by his side many years trying to learn everything he could.

Merlin learned from the wizard for many years until there was a confrontation at a river crossing. There was a fight in the middle of the river and Merlin’s mentor was knocked into the rushing current. Merlin hid from the evil men who had just dispatched his mentor into the water and luckily they passed him by.

After the danger was passed Merlin searched the river’s edge for many days looking for signs of his master but there was no trace. Merlin was alone again. He took what his master had taught him in the ways of minor magic and used it to entertain people with a street show. He traveled the lands searching for signs of his lost master hoping to finish his training, but he found as he grew older that his powers were becoming more polished. Now with gray in his beard Merlin hopes his master is still alive so that they simply might get to speak once more.
